Galactomannan polysaccharide from guar bean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba) seeds.

Common usage in food

Thickener in ice cream, sauces, gluten-free products, and dairy alternatives.

Effects on human health

Soluble fiber; may slow glucose absorption and promote satiety. Used in some laxative products at higher doses.

High doses may cause bloating or flatulence. Rare esophageal obstruction cases with dry powder ingestion.
